Our History
Established since 1913
Though incorporated as a limited company in 1995, Manonmoney Vilas’ brand was established in 1913 during the British occupation in Malaysia.
Starting out as a bookstore, we sold mainly religious books and novels written in Tamil; Indian magazines and newspapers; as well as household prayer items. Our customers were Indian migrants, the majority of them being Tamils from South India and Sri Lanka.
Over the years, seeing the decline in the use of minority languages like Tamil in multilingual Malaysia, we saw the need to sell a variety of resources and services that would help preserve, maintain and enhance the Tamil language and culture among our fellow Malaysians.
Today, we have continuously expanded our book inventory to cater to the growing Indian population in Malaysia, which comprises Indians from other parts of India such as Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
We aim to cherish and preserve our Indian culture and language by making Indian-related books and reading materials easily accessible and affordable for Indian communities everywhere.
